Juvenile Arrested for April Shooting in Manassas

MANASSAS, VA – A significant breakthrough has occurred in the investigation of a shooting that took place last month at the Coverstone Apartments in Manassas. On May 14, while responding to an unrelated incident at the local Walmart on Sudley Road, police officers arrested a 17-year-old male suspect involved in the April 26 shooting.

The initial incident, which occurred in the 10900 block of Coverstone Drive, involved two males approaching a 19-year-old man. During the encounter, one of the suspects brandished a firearm. The subsequent investigation led to a shots-fired call to police at approximately 5:25 PM on the day of the incident.

The breakthrough came when officers, alerted by Walmart security about two individuals concealing merchandise, attempted to apprehend them as they fled the scene.

They succeeded in detaining the 17-year-old, who was identified as one of the suspects from the April shooting. He has been charged with two counts of attempted malicious wounding, two counts of shooting into a residential dwelling, two counts of brandishing, and several other related charges. The juvenile is currently held at the Juvenile Detention Center, with a court date pending.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to identify and locate the second suspect involved in the shooting, described as a Hispanic male around 5’7″ with a medium build, last seen wearing a black hooded jacket and black jeans. The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in resolving the case.
