Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting Incident in D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC – A suspect has been taken into custody for a March shooting that left one man dead in Southeast Washington. The D.C. Metro Police Department confirmed the arrest of 21-year-old Monteze Morton for the crime. Morton was apprehended on Thursday by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, following a DC Superior Court arrest warrant.

On March 22, around 3:08 PM, police were called to the 2900 block of Gainesville Street after reports of gunfire. They discovered Dimitrious Tre’von Brown, 29, unresponsive and without signs of life on nearby Hartford Street. Brown was later pronounced dead by responding emergency medical services.

Morton now faces charges of First Degree Murder while Armed and is currently held at the Homicide Branch.
