NEW YORK, NY—Police responded to a fatal shooting incident at 79-45 Metropolitan Avenue on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at approximately 3:25 AM. A 19-year-old male, later identified as Joshua Taylor of Brooklyn, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the torso and was pronounced dead at NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst.
Additionally, a 21-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and was taken to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center by private means.
Following an extensive investigation, the NYPD arrested three individuals on Tuesday in connection with the shooting. Damone Miller, 21, from Brooklyn; Dante Hunter, 25, from Queens; and Shamel Capers, 26, from Hackensack, NJ, were charged with attempted murder, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and first-degree reckless endangerment.
