Shooting Incident During Alleged Burglary at Baltimore Church

BALTIMORE, MD—A shooting in Baltimore’s Southwest District is under investigation after a 59-year-old man was reportedly shot during an alleged burglary attempt. The incident occurred on May 26, 2024, at around 7:56 AM in the 100 block of South Mount Street.

Upon arrival at the scene, Southwest District patrol officers discovered the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics were promptly called and transported the man to a local hospital with injuries that were determined to be non-life-threatening.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the shooting occurred while the victim was allegedly attempting to burglarize a vacant church currently under construction. Details on who fired the shots have not been released as the investigation continues.
