Man Threatened With Gun at Wilkes-Barre Park

WILKES-BARRE, PA — A serious incident involving a firearm threat has prompted an ongoing police investigation in Wilkes-Barre. The event occurred at Kirby Park on May 27, 2024, at approximately 6:30 PM, where a 41-year-old man reported being threatened with a gun.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with a 65-year-old male suspect. During the dispute, the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm and pointed it at the victim before fleeing the area. Police were called to the scene shortly after the incident was reported.

The victim, a resident of Wilkes-Barre, was unharmed physically but the encounter has led to increased concerns about safety in the popular local park. Police are actively seeking the suspect, described only as a white male, age 65, who remains unidentified. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could help identify and locate the suspect to further their investigation.
