Police Investigating Pedestrian Hit and Run in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, NJ – Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Lakewood Township Police Chief Gregory Meyer announced an ongoing investigation into a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad, Lakewood Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit are handling the case.

On June 16, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Lakewood Township Police were called to Route 9 and First Street to respond to a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian. Officers found that a white four-door sedan, traveling northbound on Route 9, struck a male victim who was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.

The white sedan continued northbound on Route 9 without stopping at the scene. The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Medical staff have listed the victim in critical condition. Authorities are actively investigating the incident and seeking information about the vehicle and driver involved.
