Police Investigating After Boy Drowned at New Jersey Day Camp

MANSFIELD, NJ – The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Mansfield Township Police Department are currently investigating the drowning of a 6-year-old boy at Liberty Lakes Day Camp. Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw and Police Chief Eric Campbell provided details of the tragic incident, which occurred yesterday just before 2 p.m. at the camp located on Florence Columbus Road.

The young boy was discovered unresponsive in a swimming pool and was promptly pulled from the water by a lifeguard. Despite immediate life-saving attempts by camp staff, he was transported to Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death is scheduled to be performed today by Dr. Ian Hood, Burlington County Medical Examiner. Further updates on the investigation will be provided as new information becomes available.
