BALTIMORE, MD – A Baltimore man has won $50,000 on a Mega Money scratch-off ticket, thanks to a piece of advice from his grandmother. The restaurant worker, who has accumulated over $150,000 in scratch-off prizes over the years, shared his winning strategy with Lottery officials on Tuesday.
The man follows a rule his grandmother taught him: “Not everyone can be lucky every day.” This advice led him to a disciplined approach where he buys two scratch tickets whenever he feels like playing. If neither ticket wins, he stops for the day. However, if one ticket is a winner, he takes it as a sign to continue playing.
This strategy has proven successful for him, resulting in significant wins twice before. His latest win came in late June with a $50,000 prize from the Mega Money game.
“I’ve won big twice before, but the last time was a long time ago,” he remarked. “I wasn’t sure it would ever happen again.”
The winning ticket was purchased at EZ Quick Food Market, located at 231 Mountain Road in Pasadena. The Mega Money game, which costs $30 and launched in April, still has four $2 million top prizes and seven $50,000 prizes remaining.
