Rockland County, NY — Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today that Julio Rodriguez-Rodriguez, 47, of Haverstraw, was found guilty of multiple charges related to sexual abuse after a bench trial before Judge Sherri Eisenpress. The trial began on July 1, 2024, and concluded on July 9, 2024.
Rodriguez-Rodriguez was convicted on one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree (Class D Felony), two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A Misdemeanor), and one count of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree (Class B Misdemeanor). The convictions stem from a series of incidents beginning in December 2019, where Rodriguez-Rodriguez engaged in multiple acts of sexual conduct with a female child under 13 years old. The abuse continued for two years, with the last act occurring on July 23, 2023, when the victim was 14 years old.
District Attorney Tom Walsh stated, “The egregious actions of the defendant in this case took away the innocence of a 14-year-old girl. My office is committed to protecting all children from sexual predators. I commend the Haverstraw Police Department and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit for their collaborative efforts in ensuring the defendant was held fully accountable for his actions.”
The investigation was initiated by the Haverstraw Police Department with assistance from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit. Sentencing for Rodriguez-Rodriguez is scheduled for October 1, 2024. He faces a maximum state prison sentence of seven years for the top count and will be required to register as a sex offender.
