Second Victim Identified in Tragic Southeast D.C. Car Crash

by Local News Report

WASHINGTON, DC — Investigators have identified 18-year-old Zagory Leo Hill of District Heights, MD, as the second victim in a fatal crash that took place on Southern Avenue earlier this month. The incident, which resulted in two deaths, occurred on Tuesday, July 2, around 12:35 p.m.

A silver BMW sedan, reportedly speeding south in the 4100 block of Southern Avenue while being pursued by U.S. Park Police and Anne Arundel County Police for its connection to multiple robberies, lost control. The car mounted the curb, struck a tree, and violently split in half. One occupant, a 19-year-old male from Southeast, tried to flee after being ejected but was quickly detained and charged as a Fugitive from Justice.

D.C. Fire and EMS responded to the scene, where they pronounced both occupants deceased. The previously identified decedent was 17-year-old Dashawn Harris, also from Southeast. The ongoing investigation has further linked the BMW to an armed robbery the following day. Authorities are appealing for more information and have asked witnesses to contact them at (202) 727-9099 or via the text tip line at 50411.
