Thieves Targeting NYC Subway Passengers

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect linked to a series of grand larcenies in the subway system under the jurisdictions of the 83 and 90 Precincts, Transit District 33. Authorities have released images of the individual believed to be involved in these incidents.

In the first reported incident on Sunday, July 7, at around 12:05 PM, a 21-year-old woman was on a southbound “L” train nearing Jefferson Street station when an unidentified person attempted to steal her necklace. The suspect fled the scene empty-handed, and no injuries or property loss occurred.

The second incident occurred on Wednesday, July 10, at approximately 10:20 AM. A 40-year-old woman on a Manhattan-bound “M” train approaching Lorimer Street station was targeted by an individual who successfully snatched her necklace and escaped on foot. There were no injuries reported in this theft.

The NYPD urges anyone with information about these incidents or the suspect to come forward to assist in the investigation.
