Atlantic City Police Arrest Elderly Man Threatening Murder-Suicide

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A 75-year-old Missouri man was arrested in Atlantic City on Saturday night after allegedly threatening to kill himself and a woman during a domestic dispute, according to the Atlantic City Police Department. Officers responding to the incident recovered a loaded handgun from the scene.

The incident occurred on August 17 at approximately 9:30 p.m. in a motel on the beach block of Iowa Avenue. Police were alerted to the situation after it was reported that James Pace, of Blue Springs, Missouri, had threatened to shoot both himself and a woman he was in a relationship with during an argument. The threats were made while Pace was in possession of a firearm.

Upon arrival, officers located Pace and arrested him without incident. A loaded handgun and additional ammunition were recovered from the scene. Following his arrest, Pace was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for evaluation.

Pace has been charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and terroristic threats.

The Atlantic City Police Department has not released further details as the investigation continues.
