Home Undergoing Renovations Burns to the Ground in La Plata

LA PLATA, Md. — A fire early Sunday morning caused extensive damage to a single-family home in La Plata, Maryland. The fire occurred at approximately 2:21 a.m. at 4490 Jimmy Green Place in Charles County.

The home, owned by Barbara Jones, was unoccupied and undergoing renovations at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported. The fire resulted in an estimated $183,000 in damages, according to authorities.

The Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, but the blaze had already been extinguished before their arrival. Fifteen firefighters were initially dispatched, but the situation did not require further intervention.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Authorities have stated that the home did not have any smoke alarms, fire alarms, or sprinkler systems installed at the time of the incident.
