Shoplifting Incident at Wilmington Macy’s Escalates to Robbery

Wilmington, DE – The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that took place following a shoplifting attempt at the Macy’s Concord Mall on Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers responded to the Macy’s Concord Mall at 4747 Concord Pike in Wilmington on Tuesday at approximately 5:36 p.m. According to the preliminary investigation, an unknown black female was caught on surveillance footage attempting to leave the store with clothing merchandise without paying. When a loss prevention employee tried to recover the items, a struggle ensued.

During the confrontation, the suspect kicked the employee, implied that she had a gun, and reached for her waistband before fleeing the store. The suspect is described as a black female, approximately 5’4″ to 5’5″ tall, with long black braids.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is investigating the incident. Detectives are seeking information from anyone who may have details about this case.
