New York State Police Officer Injured in Crash Released After Weeks in Hospital

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A New York State Police sergeant was discharged from the Erie County Medical Center on Wednesday after weeks of treatment following a serious motorcycle crash, according to state police. Sergeant/Station Commander Salvatore Mattina, who was injured in the accident on September 13, left the hospital with family and colleagues present to celebrate his release.

The New York State Police expressed gratitude to the medical staff at the Erie County Medical Center for their care during Mattina’s recovery. “We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated medical team at the Erie County Medical Center for the exceptional care they have provided throughout his recovery,” the department shared on social media.

Though his release marks a major step forward, Sgt. Mattina faces a lengthy recovery process. The sergeant and his family have thanked the community for their ongoing support during this challenging time.
