Morris County, NJ – Juan A. Fernandez, a 61-year-old resident of Towaco, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault. The sentence was announced by Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll along with Chief of Detectives Robert McNally and Montville Township Police Chief Andrew Caggiano.

Fernandez pled guilty on June 19 to one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, according to N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2(a)(1). The Honorable Ralph Amirata, J.S.C., imposed the 16-year sentence on October 4, specifying that it must be served in full with no chance for early release. Additionally, Fernandez is subject to lifetime parole supervision and will be bound by Megan’s Law upon release. The final five years of his sentence will be served at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center.

The charges stem from Fernandez’s repeated sexual acts against a juvenile male victim over a ten-year period, starting when the victim was six years old. The investigation into these acts was initiated in March.
