UTICA – The Utica Police Department has charged a local man in connection with the theft of credit cards from an employee at a healthcare facility. The incident, reported in mid-August, involved an individual allegedly rummaging through the victim’s purse, stealing her wallet and credit cards. The case was subsequently handed over to the Criminal Investigations Division.

Investigators discovered that attempts were made to use the stolen cards at a convenience store, but the transactions were unsuccessful. Surveillance footage from both the healthcare facility and the convenience store revealed the same person at both locations. The evidence helped identify a suspect in the ongoing investigation.

On Tuesday, police interviewed the suspect, Terrelle Hines, aged 20, from Utica. Based on the interview and the gathered evidence, authorities found sufficient grounds to press formal charges. Hines is now facing charges of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree and Identity Theft in the second degree.

The investigation leading to the charges included reviewing the surveillance tapes and interviewing key individuals involved. The Utica Police Department continues to handle the case as it moves through the legal process. Additional details regarding court proceedings have
