Stamford, CT – On Wednesday morning, the Stamford Fire Department responded to a house fire at 109 Hardesty Lane in North Stamford. Smoke detectors alerted the residents, allowing them to exit the home safely.
The first emergency call came in at 2:04 AM, with fire units reaching the location by 2:13 AM. They encountered severe fire conditions at the back of the property, which had spread from the first floor to the second floor and attic. Firefighters from Engine 8 managed an exterior attack, while Engine 9 fought the flames inside.
Due to the rural area, a water tanker operation was implemented involving assistance from the Turn of River and Long Ridge Volunteer Fire Departments. Two portable pools were set up to ensure a steady water supply.
Fire personnel extinguished the blaze, bringing it under control by 3:10 AM, with all home occupants confirmed safe. One firefighter sustained injuries and was transported to Stamford Hospital. The fire department responded with five engines, one heavy rescue unit, and an aerial apparatus, supported by additional volunteer tanker units and emergency services.
