Newark police seek public’s help identifying package theft suspect

Authorities seek tips to identify cyclist in Newark package theft.

NEWARK, NJ — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man caught on video stealing a package from the front steps of a residence on Carolina Avenue earlier this week.

The theft occurred at approximately 10:57 a.m. on November 26, when the suspect, riding a white bicycle, was seen on surveillance video in the 80 block of Carolina Avenue. The video shows the suspect stopping at the victim’s residence, walking up to the front steps, and taking the package before riding away.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is urging anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Tips remain confidential, and anonymous information may qualify for a reward.
