Decomposed Body Found in New Jersey Wildlife Management Area

MANCHESTER, N.J. — Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in an advanced state of decomposition in the Greenwood Wildlife Management Area, officials said Saturday.

The Manchester Township Police Department was alerted to the discovery on December 14, prompting a coordinated response from multiple agencies, including the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and the New Jersey State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer confirmed the investigation and said there is no indication of a public safety threat at this time.

“We are actively investigating the circumstance surrounding this death and the discovery of this deceased male’s body,” Billhimer said in a statement. “There is no known danger to the public at this time. We will release more information as the investigation unfolds.”
