Baltimore man arrested nearly a year after fatal shooting

BALTIMORE, MD — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the March 2024 shooting death of 35-year-old Alvin Ray Henry Jr., following a nearly year-long investigation into the Central District homicide.

Detectives determined that 35-year-old Derrell Goines, of Baltimore, shot and killed Henry on March 2, 2024, during a dispute in the 1400 block of East Biddle Street. Responding officers had discovered Henry suffering from multiple gunshot wounds after being alerted by a ShotSpotter notification. He was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On January 3rdWarrant Apprehension detectives located and arrested Goines without incident at a home in the 1100 block of West Northern Parkway. He was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility and charged with first-degree murder.

Homicide investigators had assumed control of the case last March and identified Goines as the suspect after months of investigation.
