Fire damages Cambridge garage apartment; no injuries reported

CAMBRIDGE, M.D. — A fire broke out late Tuesday night at a garage apartment in Cambridge, causing significant damage but resulting in no injuries, officials said.

The blaze was reported at approximately 11:31 p.m. at 880 Hills Point Road in Dorchester County.

The fire originated inside an apartment built over a storage garage owned by David Viddision.

The Neck District Volunteer Fire Department responded with 35 firefighters and contained the fire within one hour.

Damage is estimated at $12,000 to the structure and $50,000 to its contents.

A smoke alarm was present, but it is undetermined if it activated. The property had no fire alarm or sprinkler system.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Lower Eastern Regional office at 410-713-3780.
