Dump truck crashes into New Jersey Target, six injured

NORTH BERGEN, NJ — A dump truck crash on Tonnelle Avenue Friday afternoon left six people injured and forced a major road closure, the North Bergen Police Department confirmed.

Around 4:00 p.m., a dump truck traveling west on 71st Street veered into the southbound lanes of Tonnelle Avenue, striking a tractor-trailer before crashing into the Target store.

Police reported six injuries resulting from the collision. Two victims sustained serious injuries, two suffered moderate injuries, and two had minor injuries. Five of the six individuals are being treated at local hospitals.

As of Friday evening, Tonnelle Avenue remains closed in both directions between 70th and 76th Street as authorities continue their investigation and clear the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, and officials have not yet provided updates on potential charges or contributing factors.

The incident caused significant traffic disruptions in the area as emergency crews responded to the scene.
