Juvenile Arrested for Firearm Possession After School Disturbance in Brighton

by Breaking Local News Report

BRIGHTON, MA – A 16-year-old male was arrested on Friday, January 24, 2025, following a school-related disturbance that led to the discovery of a loaded firearm. Officers from District D-14 (Brighton/Allston) responded to a verbal altercation involving multiple students at Mary Lyons School on Beechcroft Street around 12:40 p.m.

School staff intervened to de-escalate the situation, during which one student made threats before leaving the school in a vehicle. Concerned that the dispute might escalate further, officers remained at the school until dismissal.

Later that afternoon, officers located one of the involved students near the school inside a laundromat. The juvenile attempted to flee upon seeing police but was quickly detained. During the encounter, officers found a black jacket near the suspect containing a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver with six rounds of .38 special ammunition.
