Princeton man arrested for making threats, found with loaded handgun

PRINCETON, N.J. — A Princeton man was arrested Monday after allegedly threatening another individual during an altercation and referencing a firearm, according to the Princeton Police Department.

At approximately 9:32 a.m. on February 10, 2025, police responded to a business on North Harrison Street after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a verbal dispute. Officers located a suspect matching the caller’s description—a Black male in his 30s wearing black sweatpants and a white shirt—later identified as 39-year-old Okello Azi.

Following an investigation, Azi was arrested for making terroristic threats. A subsequent search of his vehicle led to the discovery of a silver and black Springfield XD .45 caliber handgun, along with two magazines loaded with hollow-point ammunition.

Azi was transported to the Princeton Police Department, where he was processed and charged with terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of hollow-point ammunition. He was later transferred to the Mercer County Correctional Center.
