Delaware teen fatally shot at Philadelphia playground; no arrests made

PHILADELPHIA — An 18-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night at DeRetis Playground in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.

Officers from the 12th District responded to the scene at 5600 Grays Avenue at 8:56 p.m. after reports of a gunshot victim on the basketball court. They found Anthony Jerome Sharpe Jr., of Smyrna, Delaware, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Sharpe was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:05 p.m.

Authorities have not determined a motive, and no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
