Wine and win! $20K lottery ticket sold at Worthington shop

WORTHINGTON, OH — A lucky Ohio Lottery player claimed a $20,000 prize this week after purchasing a VIP Millions scratch-off ticket from Guru Wines LLC in Worthington, according to the Ohio Lottery.

The winning ticket was sold at the shop located at 2285 W Dublin Granville Road #17. VIP Millions is a $50 scratch-off game offering a range of prizes, including a top prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years.

Following standard federal and state tax withholdings totaling 28 percent, the winner will take home an estimated $14,400 in net earnings.

As of Tuesday, 38 top prizes remain in the VIP Millions game, which continues to be one of the Ohio Lottery’s high-stakes offerings for players seeking large cash awards.

The Ohio Lottery has not disclosed the identity of the winner. The claim was processed as part of routine prize disbursement procedures.

Scratch-off win adds to growing education fund contributions

The Ohio Lottery stated that its games, including scratch-offs like VIP Millions, support education across the state. Since 1974, the lottery has contributed more than $33 billion to funding education initiatives.

Guru Wines LLC joins a list of participating retailers credited with selling winning tickets, which often drive increased foot traffic following prize announcements.

No further details have been released about the timing of the purchase or the winner’s plans. The Ohio Lottery encourages winners to consult financial and legal advisors after major wins.
