Man punched in face during dispute on E train, NYPD seeks suspect

NEW YORK, N.Y. — A 66-year-old man was assaulted aboard a southbound E train last Tuesday morning during a verbal altercation that escalated into violence, according to the New York City Police Department.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on April 22 as the train approached the Court Square–23 Street station. During the ride, the victim became involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified male who subsequently punched him in the face.

The victim sustained a laceration, bruising, and pain around his left eye. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported him to NYU Langone Health in stable condition, police said.

The suspect exited the train at the 50 Street station and remains at large. Authorities described him as a male with a slim build and light complexion. He was last seen wearing sunglasses, a black hooded sweater, blue jeans, and carrying a black backpack.

The NYPD is continuing its investigation and has not released surveillance footage or further identifying details at this time.
