Forest Hills store sells big winning lottery ticket

FOREST HILLS, N.Y. — A top-prize winning TAKE 5 ticket worth $18,456 was sold in Queens for the midday drawing on Tuesday, according to the New York Lottery.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shree Sai Food Mart, located at 104-19 Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills. It matched all five numbers drawn in the May 6 TAKE 5 MIDDAY drawing.

TAKE 5 draws winning numbers twice a day, once at 2:30 p.m. and again at 10:30 p.m., from a field of one through 39. Players have one year from the draw date to claim their prizes.

The winning ticket adds to a growing list of recent TAKE 5 top-prize winners across the city, as participation in the quick-draw-style game remains strong statewide.

Retailers that sell winning tickets are eligible for a bonus, though the amount for this specific sale has not been disclosed.

TAKE 5 continues to deliver daily winners across New York

The New York Lottery, which oversees TAKE 5 and other draw games, contributed $3.8 billion to public education in New York State during the 2023–2024 fiscal year. It remains the most profitable lottery system in North America.

Shree Sai Food Mart now joins the list of New York retailers where top-prize winning tickets have been sold in 2024. The ticket buyer has not yet been identified, and the prize remains unclaimed as of Wednesday.
