Persistence pays as Parkville man claims $50K on scratch-off after years of second-chance entries

by Local News Report

PARKVILLE, MD — A longtime Maryland Lottery player from Parkville who routinely enters non-winning tickets into second-chance drawings has claimed his biggest prize yet — a $50,000 win from a scratch-off ticket.

The winning ticket was purchased at Speedy Mart, located at 7501 Harford Road in Parkville. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket, equivalent to 1% of the prize amount.

The Parkville man claimed his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters on Tuesday, joined by his younger brother. While he has previously won through the My Lottery Rewards second-chance program, this is his first top-tier scratch-off win.

The ticket came from the $20 $50,000 Cash game, which launched with 160 top prizes. According to the Maryland Lottery, 63 of those $50,000 prizes remain unclaimed.

The winner, who plays scratch-off tickets weekly and is active in the rewards program, said he has no immediate plans for the money. He confirmed he intends to keep playing.

Speedy Mart now joins the list of Maryland Lottery retailers linked to major recent wins.
