STAFFORD, Va. — Two separate assaults on Wednesday led to multiple charges in Stafford County, including a violent incident at the Rappahannock Regional Jail and a student altercation at Colonial Forge High School.
At 12:02 p.m., deputies responded to a reported fight inside the Rappahannock Regional Jail on Richmond Highway. According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, one inmate was assaulted by two others and sustained broken bones. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Deputy J.L. Jones obtained warrants against both suspects for malicious wounding, assault by mob, and conspiracy to maliciously wound. Their names were not immediately released.
Just over 30 minutes later, another assault occurred at Colonial Forge High School on Courthouse Road. Deputy G.M. Lum, serving as a school resource officer, was alerted to a fight between two students that escalated from a verbal disagreement.
During the incident, the suspect allegedly struck the victim, and the suspect’s sister became involved by also assaulting the victim as staff attempted to intervene. Both siblings were issued criminal complaints for assault and battery.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate both incidents. No further injuries were reported at the school.
