TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Memorial Day weekend along the Jersey Shore will kick off with cloudy skies and cool temperatures but is expected to gradually warm into mild, sunny conditions by Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday began with patchy fog and a slight chance of showers before 9 a.m., with another brief chance of rain in the late afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach a high near 67 degrees with west winds up to 10 mph and gusts to 20 mph.
Overnight conditions will remain dry and partly cloudy, with lows dipping to around 47 degrees. Winds will stay light out of the west.
Saturday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 66 degrees and gusty west winds up to 25 mph. The evening will stay clear with temperatures falling to the upper 40s.
Clear skies and warmer temperatures expected by Monday
Sunday will continue the warming trend, with highs near 70 and mostly sunny skies. Winds from the west will range from 10 to 15 mph. The night will bring partly cloudy skies and a low around 49 degrees.
Memorial Day on Monday is forecast to be sunny and mild, with a high near 73 — ideal for outdoor gatherings and barbecues to mark the holiday. Monday night will remain partly cloudy with lows around 51.
