WASHINGTON, DC — A 59-year-old man was fatally shot inside his Northwest DC apartment Sunday evening after a stray bullet from an alleyway gunfight struck him through a window, police said.
The shooting occurred around 6:11 p.m. in the 1500 block of Ogden Street, Northwest. Fourth District officers arrived to find the man unconscious and not breathing inside his apartment. DC Fire and EMS responded, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined the gunfire took place in the alley behind the apartment complex. One of the bullets pierced a window and struck the victim, who police say was not the intended target.
The victim has been identified as Jose Carcamo, 59, of Northwest DC. No suspects have been identified, and police have not disclosed any leads or motives related to the shooting.
