WASHINGTON, D.C. — A woman was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon in the Anacostia neighborhood, prompting a homicide investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.
At approximately 12:41 p.m., officers from the Seventh District were dispatched to the 2300 block of Pitts Place, Southeast, following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was found unconscious and not breathing.
DC Fire and EMS responded and attempted lifesaving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police later identified the victim as 32-year-old Tequila Parker of Southeast, D.C.

The incident occurred in broad daylight, drawing the attention of nearby residents. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including whether the victim was targeted.
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide.
