Benning Road turns into bullet zone hours apart

Three men shot in two separate incidents hours apart on Benning Road

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two separate shootings unfolded just blocks apart along Benning Road NE Monday morning, leaving three men injured as Metropolitan Police work to determine whether the incidents are connected.

The first shooting occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. in the 1700 block of Benning Road NE. Officers arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital in conscious and breathing condition.

Less than two hours later, at around 11:25 a.m., a second shooting was reported in the 1500 block of Benning Road NE. Responding officers discovered two additional male victims, both with gunshot wounds. They were also taken to local hospitals while conscious and breathing.

Police have not confirmed whether the two shootings are connected, and no suspect descriptions were immediately available.
