TOMS RIVER, NJ – June 10, 2025 – The Toms River Recreation Department, in partnership with the Ortley Beach Lifeguards, is excited to announce that a few spots remain for its highly anticipated Junior Lifeguard Classes. Scheduled for July 8 through August 7, this program is designed for children ages 9-15 and will take place at Ortley Beach.
The classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with two convenient time frames to choose from: 9:15 AM to 10:45 AM or 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Participants will receive comprehensive training that includes water safety, beach and lifeguard station activities, aquatic activities, physical conditioning, and competitive skills. The program aims to foster a willingness to exercise and learn about ocean aquatic safety among young swimmers.

Children will benefit from hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced lifeguards, participating in beach games, aquatic activities, and boardwalk conditioning. This initiative not only promotes physical fitness but also instills valuable life-saving skills.
