MILLSBORO, Del. — The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit has arrested 25-year-old Marcus Harris following a fatal shooting early Saturday morning in Millsboro.
Troopers responded at approximately 2:00 a.m. to a residence in the 24000 block of Rivers Edge Drive after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, troopers found a 19-year-old man outside the home suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite troopers rendering medical aid, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two additional men were located outside the residence with gunshot injuries. Both were transported to a nearby hospital and are being treated for non-life-threatening wounds.
Inside the residence, troopers located Harris and took him into custody without incident. A preliminary investigation determined that the shooting stemmed from an argument involving Harris, the victim, and a female resident of the home.
Investigation reveals details of altercation
According to investigators, the 19-year-old victim and two other men were at the residence with a woman who knew both the victim and Harris. The situation escalated when the victim argued with the woman, who reportedly no longer wanted the men at her residence. A physical altercation between Harris and the 19-year-old followed, during which Harris shot the victim and then fired at the two other men.
The woman was not injured during the incident, police said.
Harris was transported to Troop 7 where he was charged with multiple crimes related to the shooting. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Department of Corrections on a $480,000 cash bond.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased as the investigation remains ongoing.
