WASHINGTON, DC — A marked police vehicle parked on North Capitol Street was vandalized Wednesday evening when an individual walked up and punctured one of its tires, deflating it in front of a residential building.
The incident happened just after 6 p.m. in the 1200 block, where the unoccupied cruiser was stationed. Surveillance footage from nearby cameras captured the suspect using a sharp instrument to slash the tire.
The suspect then fled the area. The entire act was caught on video, and still images have been released in hopes of identifying the individual.
The vehicle belonged to the Metropolitan Police Department and was part of regular patrol deployment in the neighborhood. No officers were injured, and no other damage was reported.

Public tips sought in tire slashing case
Investigators are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is asked to call (202) 727-9099 or text 50411 with tips.
The suspect remains unidentified as of Sunday.
The MPD has not released further information but emphasized that damage to marked police vehicles is a serious offense under city law.
