SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Members of the Schenectady Police Department and the City of Schenectady Mayor’s Office participated in the 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run this week in support of Special Olympics New York.
The event, part of an annual statewide relay, raises awareness and support for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Local officers and city representatives took part in the Schenectady leg of the run, carrying the torch through the city as it makes its way across New York.
Sgt. Kyle Willetts of the Schenectady Police Department organized the local run and was recognized for his continued involvement in Special Olympics activities throughout the year.
“Thank you to Schenectady Police Sgt. Kyle Willetts for not only organizing the run, but also helping with Special Olympics events throughout the year,” organizers said.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a key initiative that unites officers and communities to promote inclusion and support Special Olympics athletes statewide.
