Woman assaulted and robbed at Flushing Avenue subway station in early morning attack

The suspect in Saturday’s early morning subway assault remains at large after fleeing on foot.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A 26-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed early Saturday morning while boarding a Manhattan-bound train at the Flushing Avenue subway station, according to police.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:02 a.m. when an unidentified male suspect approached the victim from behind, grabbed her purse, and pushed her to the ground. Police said the assailant then punched the woman multiple times in the face and head before fleeing the scene on foot.

Emergency medical services transported the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries and listed in stable condition.

The stolen purse and its contents were valued at approximately $390, according to police reports. Authorities have not recovered the stolen property.

The suspect has not been identified.

Suspect remains at large following subway assault

The New York Police Department described the suspect as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white tank top, gray shorts, and a black hat.

Investigators continue to review surveillance footage from the Flushing Avenue station and surrounding areas in an effort to locate the individual. No arrests have been made as of Sunday morning.
