BALTIMORE, MD – The death of a 64-year-old woman found unresponsive last month in a home on Druid Hill Avenue has been ruled a homicide by asphyxiation, Baltimore police confirmed.

On November 15, at approximately 2:37 p.m., Western District patrol officers responded to the 1600 block of Druid Hill Avenue for a report of an unresponsive person. Upon arrival, they discovered Joyce Gaskins, 64, deceased at the scene.

A 25-year-old male family member of the victim was present at the home and was transported to a hospital for psychological evaluation and treatment.

Following an autopsy, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined on December 5 that Gaskins’ death was caused by asphyxiation. Homicide detectives are actively investigating the case.
