MAYS LANDING, N.J. – Matthew Lynch, 34, of Galloway Township, NJ, was sentenced on Tuesday to an aggregate term of eight years in New Jersey State Prison. The sentence was handed down by the Honorable Donna M. Taylor, J.S.C., for two cases involving second-degree possession with the intent to distribute heroin/fentanyl and possession of heroin.

Lynch pled guilty to second-degree possession with the intent to distribute heroin/fentanyl following a narcotics investigation conducted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit (GGN) and the New Jersey State Police.

The investigation led to the execution of two search warrants on June 21, 2022. During these searches, police arrested Lynch and found digital scales, commonly used to weigh narcotics for sale, and $1,482 in U.S. currency believed to be derived from criminal activity. Detectives discovered that Lynch was supplying heroin/fentanyl, methamphetamine, and fentanyl pills to a residence in Atlantic City for distribution. In May and June 2022, Lynch sold more than one-half ounce of heroin/fentanyl and methamphetamine to undercover police operatives at various locations within Atlantic County.

Lynch also pled guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), namely heroin, after a Galloway Police Department investigation found him in possession of 52 wax folds of heroin on November 30, 2022.

These crimes were prosecuted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit.
