Newburgh drug dealer sentenced to 9 years after undercover cocaine sales and gun bust

GOSHEN, N.Y. — A Wallkill man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for selling large quantities of cocaine and possessing an illegal firearm following an undercover sting in Newburgh, Orange County prosecutors announced.

Ronald Davis, 53, pled guilty to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. On Tuesday, he was sentenced to nine years in state prison, plus five years of post-release supervision.

According to court documents, Davis sold 20 grams of cocaine to an undercover officer on September 23, 2024, in the Town of Newburgh. A second drug deal was arranged on October 1, with Davis instructing the officer to pay his girlfriend, Jennifer Burtwell. Later that day, a man identified as Sean Foster delivered 61 grams of cocaine in exchange for the money.

A search warrant was executed at Davis’s Newburgh residence on October 29, where police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun. Davis was also found with 100 grams of cocaine when taken into custody.

At his plea hearing, Davis admitted to selling more than two ounces of cocaine and possessing the illegal firearm. Burtwell and Foster have both pled guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
