Quick stop in Maryland lands woman $1 million jackpot

Virginia woman wins $1 million Maryland Lottery prize after quick stop in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, MD – A quick visit to a Maryland liquor store turned into a life-changing moment for a Virginia woman who claimed a $1 million top prize on the Maryland Lottery’s $1 Million Royale scratch-off ticket.

The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased the $20 ticket on a whim at Annapolis Wine and Spirits, located at 1307 Forest Drive. She had stopped in to pick up drinks on her way home and said something about the ticket caught her attention. The following day, she scratched it at home and wasn’t sure if the result was real — until her son confirmed the win and encouraged her to get it scanned.

She later visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, accompanied by her son, to claim her prize. The $1 million jackpot will help her cover family medical expenses and allow her to support loved ones during the upcoming holiday season. She also plans to save part of her winnings.

The ticket is part of the $1 Million Royale game, which launched earlier this year. It still has two $1 million top prizes remaining, along with other prize levels. Annapolis Wine and Spirits will receive a $1,000 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The Maryland Lottery encourages players to enter all eligible non-winning scratch-offs into its My Lottery Rewards program and reminds players to play responsibly.

Since its inception, the Maryland Lottery has generated billions in revenue for public programs and continues to offer new opportunities for players across the state.
