Retired Carroll County man wins $50,000 Powerball prize on $4 ticket
REISTERSTOWN, MD – A retired salesman from Carroll County was left stunned after discovering he had matched enough numbers in a recent Powerball drawing to win a $50,000 prize.
The Finksburg resident purchased two quick-pick tickets for $4 at the Shell gas station located at 30 Main Street in Reisterstown. One of the lines on his ticket matched the numbers 5, 18, 26, 59, along with the red Powerball, securing the third-tier prize.
He later checked the ticket at home and realized he had won. Although he had picked up smaller prizes in the past, the Carroll County man said he was in disbelief over the unexpected windfall.
According to lottery officials, he plans to use the winnings to settle personal finances. A regular player of Powerball and Mega Millions, the retiree enjoys playing golf in his free time.
The Maryland Lottery encourages all players to sign the backs of winning tickets and keep them in a safe place until they can be claimed. Powerball drawings are held three times a week.
