CHESTERFIELD, Va. — A Chesterfield woman startled her husband with a scream after an online Virginia Lottery game revealed she had won a progressive jackpot worth $1,732,009.
The woman, who claimed her prize anonymously as permitted under Virginia law, said she decided to play the Virginia Lottery’s Banker’s Bonus Boost online instant game one evening when the life-changing prize appeared on her screen.
“I started screaming!” she told Virginia Lottery officials.
Hearing the commotion, her husband rushed into the room and looked at the computer screen.
“Breathe!” he told her after realizing she had just won the jackpot.
Earlier that day, the Chesterfield woman had won $100 on Virginia Lottery tickets she purchased at a nearby Sheetz, but she said the online jackpot came as a complete surprise.
Banker’s Bonus Boost is one of the Virginia Lottery’s online instant games. It features a Mega Money Jackpots Bonus with a progressive jackpot that grows as more players participate.
According to the Virginia Lottery, the odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 4.47.
Virginia residents who are at least 18 years old and physically located in the Commonwealth can play eligible online lottery games through the Virginia Lottery app or at valottery.com.
