Police seek answers after victim succumbed to life-threatening injuries
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 22-year-old man has died after spending several days in the hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds, prompting a homicide investigation in Northeast DC.
The shooting occurred at approximately 5:58 p.m. on July 28 in the 6200 block of Dix Street Northeast.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers found a man unconscious but still breathing after responding to reports of a shooting.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for life-threatening injuries.
Despite lifesaving efforts, police said the victim died on July 31.
He was identified as 22-year-old Jamari Millet of Southeast DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the case as a homicide.
