Cranford, NJ – The Cranford Police Department is currently investigating two attempted residential burglaries that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, February 3. The first incident was reported at a home on Crane Parkway, where the homeowner was alerted by their dog’s barking at around 4:51 a.m. Upon inspection, the homeowner saw two individuals exiting their backyard. A review of the home’s surveillance footage revealed a dark sedan arriving at approximately 4:39 a.m., with one suspect attempting to open the front door while dressed in all black and wearing a mask. A second suspect, carrying what appeared to be a crowbar, headed towards the back of the house. It is believed the intruders were deterred by the barking dog, as they failed to make entry into the home.
A similar attempt was reported later the same day on the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue East. The homeowner, upon reviewing their surveillance system, noticed two males approaching their front door around 4:53 a.m., one of whom carried a crowbar. The suspects tried to gain entry through the locked front door and then moved to the back of the residence, but they did not manage to enter the home.
In both instances, officers noted that the targeted homes had multiple BMW vehicles parked on the premises at the time of the attempted burglaries. The Cranford Police Department is urging anyone with information about these incidents to come forward and contact their detectives.
