BROOME COUNTY, NY – A traffic stop in Broome County led investigators to illegal handguns, including a ghost gun and a firearm with identifying markings that had been defaced, and ended with a 30-year-old Utica man facing multiple felony charges, according to New York State Police.

State Police announced the arrest Tuesday following an operation involving several specialized law enforcement units.

Traffic stop leads to gun discovery

Troopers said members of the Troop C Community Stabilization Unit, Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team and Special Investigations Unit participated in the traffic stop.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Strategic Response Group was also involved.

During the investigation, authorities located multiple illegal handguns, according to State Police.
