BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore man has been arrested in connection with an October shooting that left a 37-year-old victim wounded in the Northern District, bringing an attempted murder charge more than a month after the attack.

Detectives took 44-year-old Lawrence Wheeler into custody on November 7 following an investigation into the October 5 shooting in the 800 block of Exeter Hall Avenue. The incident occurred just after 12:50 a.m., when officers responded and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the groin. He was transported to a local hospital and listed in stable condition.

Investigators identified Wheeler as the suspect during the weeks-long review of evidence. He was apprehended without incident and taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with attempted murder.

Police have not released information regarding a potential motive, and no additional suspects are being sought at this time. The case remains ongoing under Northern District detectives.
